Ingredients for the Batter:
1 ½ cup red* boiled rice
½ cup white rice
2 Tbspn chana dal
1 Tspn- cumin seeds
4 small red chili’s (bedgi)
Little tamarind (optional)
Salt to taste
½ Tspn turmeric powder
Grind all above to form a very thick batter
*Red rice should be soaked atleast for 6 hrs.
You need about 9 colocasia (Pathrode) leaves
Method:
Wash the pathrade leaves well and wipe w/clean cloth until dry.
Apply a layer of prepared batter on the leaf. Keep another leaf on top of the batter and once again apply batter and repeat the process You could have 3 to 4 layers or as you wish. Just ensure that you will be able to roll them well .
Now roll them over and place them in a steam vessel over a banana leaf.
Steam it for about 45 mnts.
When cold, cut them into round slices as seen in the pic. Fry them w/desired masala. We have used our homemade masala. See link *below for our masala
Now roll them in rava and shallow fry them
