Ingredients:
Oil- 2Tbspn
Chana Dal-1 cup soaked for 2 hrs
All purpose flour-3 cups
Water or milk- 1 ½ cups
Jaggery-1 cup
Cardamom-1 Tspn (finely crushed)
Turmeric- 1/4 tspn or 3 strands of Saffron- soaked in above milk/water
Fine Rava-4tspn
Salt to taste
Method:
I)Cook chana dal in a pressure cooker w/a pinch of salt and drain the water once cooked & set a side.
Now put this in a non stick sauce pan and add jaggery & cook well until it turns dry. Add cardamom.
When this mixture is cooled, make lemon size balls ( you should get abt 17 to 18pcs out of the ingredient qty’s used) and set aside(Let’s call this the filling*)
2)In a bowl, add all purpose flour, rava with a pinch of salt & turmeric powder/saffron. Add water or milk and knead well. Make a soft dough out of this and add 2 Tspn oil ( Milk should make the dough softer than water). Do not mind if this is a little sticky, just grease a little more oil on the dough and leave for abt 1 hr.
Now take some dough and flatten with your palm and stuff it with the filling* earlier prepared.
Place them between 2 wax papers and roll them as you do chapattis and fry.
